Care Aware is a national awareness raising campaign that aims to raise awareness, recognition, support and appreciation of the 2.6 million carers who provide unpaid care and support to family members and friends across Australia.

Care Aware will raise awareness of Australia's carers who provide unpaid care and support to family members and friends with disabilities, medical conditions, mental illness, frailty due to age or  people who have alcohol and drugs issues. The campaign will also ensure that carers are aware of the supports and services available to them.

The combined range and scope of the caring effort is extraordinarily large.  Carers are the cornerstone of our mental health care, aged care, disability care and palliative care systems.  Without the support of carers these systems would simply collapse.  The replacement cost for this significant contribution to society is estimated at over $40 billion.
